Julian Crossley

Inspired to train as an osteopath after receiving excellent treatment for my own physical problems sustained when rowing as a youngster, I try not to think how many years ago that was now. I believe the osteopathic treatment enabled me to regain most of my physical ability to compete in sport. It was this experience that helped motivate me to complete the rigorous training programme to be an osteopath at Oxford Brookes University.

Profile Julian Crossley 150x150

I love being an osteopath as it’s a medical discipline that looks at the system of the body as a whole. Often osteopathy can provide answers to managing long term physical problems that prevent us from enjoying our physical or sporting lives. It is also rewarding to see patients learn to manage long term problems that they had previously just been treating with higher and higher doses of pain killers!

I treat musculoskeletal injuries from a broadly structural perspective but employ other techniques, and advice whenever appropriate. In private practice I have been fortunate to experience a wide variety of issues from the typical back pain to clicky jaws! It’s true to say that every patient brings their own challenges to the treatment table. I passionately believe that we are one of only a few medical disciplines that change what we do based on the patient’s individual needs.

When I’m not treating patients, I still manage to find the time to get out on my bike, knock holes in my house or climb mountains with the eldest of my three young children. I am fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council and a member of the Institute of Osteopathy.

Having been employed for a couple of years after university, I threw myself in at the deep end and became self employed in January 2010. Since then I have built a reputation for quality and efficiency, creating a business which offers a range of complimentary services all helping my clients make better use of the internet.

I've been married to Megan since 2007 and we have four children: Edmund, Florence, Beatrice and Henry. Both Megan and I grew up locally and we love living in Whitby and raising our family here.

I enjoy running and have started running marathons in recent years. You can follow my progress on Strava.

Over the last four years we've been busy improving our home too - there's always something to do!
